This past weekend was the Lamberth Country Fair located in Brockwell Park within Brixton. Larger than I expected, the fair provided hours of fun and entertainment.
Fairs aren’t always my scene. The whole carny scene with the loud circus music and grease-dripping food doesn’t typically excite me. However, I don’t know if it was just being in London in Jamaica-jammin’ Brixton or the wide array of performances and activities going on within the fair, but either way I had a great time.
Much to my enjoyment, the music wasn’t carny. Instead, there were stages set up where fair-goers could view act after act of live music. I actually caught a rather memorable performance by a band who has been playing together for 5 years called Annalie.
On a separate stage, there were continuous dance acts.
Some of the dance acts were quite unique…such as the fusion of Bollywood dancing and crumping. There was also a BMX + dance combo.
The food was as diverse as the scene. It certainly wasn’t just your average funnel cake and cotton candy. In addition to Indian, Moroccan, Caribbean, Pakistani, Lebanese, and another handful of ethnic varieties of food, there was paella!
There was also a ton of incredible food and craft stalls.
And tons of adorable kids doing adorable things.
A large post on a rather large event. The Lamberth Country Show left me with more than enough to talk about!
