Monday afternoon, I had a chance to have an official British tea at the Orangery in Kensington Gardens.
The traditional scones with clotted cream and jam (strawberry), along with an assortment of petite tea sandwiches and pastries were served. The tea offering that afternoon was a classic- English Breakfast.
Having previously worked in a tea house, I’m accustomed to the typical tea customs and love the whole ritual of tea time. It’s a tradition I wish were more common in the states.

August 11, 2010 at 6:01 amThe landscape is gorgeous! I’ve never done “tea time.” I like the whole idea of it though. I need to get on finding a place around here that does it.

August 11, 2010 at 3:50 pmThat is soooooo British. I love the pics of the garden. I personally do not like tea, so I do not mind it not being a US thing, but I do like the concept. When I was sick once, my friend’s mom (from London) made me drink tea to get rid of my stomach ache. Unfortunately I hate tea so that made me unhappy too.

August 11, 2010 at 8:50 pmwow, that does look beautiful. tea is kinda big in Australia too (not that it compares to the UK – at all.) i knew a guy who lived in London for years and he was very particular about his tea. i enjoy the basics myself, green and english breakfast. but mostly i just love coffee 🙂
