I am a very hands-on person and love to create. I’ve always expressed this through playing around in the kitchen, and as I’ve grown older, messing around with a camera in my hands too.
What I enjoy most about cooking is that the options are endless. Fruit in summer rolls? Let’s test it. Sesame tahini in cookies? Yes please. For me, cooking is all about experimenting, reaching beyond my basic know-how, and letting whatever’s fresh be the inspirational guide. I’m also often influenced by travels around the world.
While I love exploring new ingredient collaborations, I also run on simplicity. Life is busy, for all of us. And many times it’s the simplest dishes that taste the best anyway.
As I navigate my way around the grocery store, garden and into the kitchen, I aim to keep nutrition in mind. A healthy body is a happy one, and food is key. Moderation has always been my motto. But ice cream and (far too much) peanut butter are definitely a regular part of my regular routine.
I follow a pescetarian diet that errs on the side of vegan — meatless meals with the occasional addition of seafood. Balance, sunshine, and fresh air keep me sane. In college, I thought it’d be fun to incorporate that into the title of this website — my only regret of starting this food blog. (Hah!)
When I’m not delving into kitchen projects, you can catch me cruising on my bike with my camera strapped to my back. I am also a photographer and journalist, and food often slides into both of those realms.
Currently, I reside in Philadelphia. Come say hi if you’re in the area!
