Naturally Nutty Nut Butter

A few weeks ago, the folks from Naturally Nutty graciously sent me a collection of nut butters.  As an avid fan of nut butter (peanut butter definitely ranks as one of my top 3 favorite foods), I was more than excited for this package.  These nut butters weren’t just the average nutty butters either.  Naturally Nutty only creates the best kind of nut butters, all natural, meaning no over-processing or hydrogenated fats, and in addition to being all natural, they offer numerous unique specialty flavors.

I chose to try the Butter Toffee Peanut Butter, one of their best sellers, as well as the Vanilla Almond Butter, and Pepita Sun Seed Butter.  They also offer enticing flavors such as chocolate toffee peanut butter and white chocolate cherry almond butter.  In addition to the nut of choice, all of the nut butters contain organic hemp and flax seeds, which add an extra punch of nutrition inside each one of the jars.  These little seeds are great sources of omega fatty acids.  Hemp is also rich in vitamin E and iron.

Not quite your average jar of nut butter, Naturally Nutty’s nut butters combine an array of flavors and nutritionally beneficial ingredients to create the perfect healthy, nutty, creamy snack for all those nut butter lovers like me.  This is exactly what the vegetarian Mom who started the company in Traverse City, Michigan was striving for.  Wanting to create the ultimate kid-friendly flavored nut butter, but still maintain a wholesome, nutrient packed feel, the Michigan Mom created Naturally Nutty’s nut butters, adding organic hemp and flax seeds to allow the nut butters to even surpass the regular all natural nut butters.

As a peanut butter fanatic, I first went for the Butter Toffee Peanut Butter jar.  Since I love all things peanut butter, I could never say I didn’t like this, but I do have to admit it was my least favorite of the three jars I got to sample.  It was a tad too sweet for me (hence the toffee) and wasn’t quite as smooth as I would’ve liked given the flavor.  However, for all those sugary peanut butter lovers, I think this would be a great alternative, and I could also definitely see this working well in peanut butter dessert recipes.

Next, I went for the Pepita Sun Seed Butter.  This jar contained organic pumpkin and sunflower seeds, organic flax and hemp seeds, organic vanilla powder, organic allspice and cinnamon, and sea salt.  This was so good!  It tasted like a rich, creamy pumpkin pie, which had me eating it straight from the jar.  It paired exceptionally well with oatmeal.  I would definitely give this another go.

Lastly, I tried the Vanilla Almond Butter.  I was never particularly a huge almond butter fan until I tried Barney’s Almond Butter.  With only one brand of almond butter catching my attention, I wasn’t sure how I would like Naturally Nutty’s version, but I decided to go for it regardless.  Much to my surprise, I have officially found another almond butter I thoroughly enjoy!  While the almond butter isn’t qutie as smooth as Barney’s, the flavor is incredibly delicious.  The slight hints of vanilla and sugar pair really well with the almond, flax, and hemp seeds.  This butter has impressive nutrition info. as well, with 3 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein, and 8% of calcium and iron of your recommended daily value per two-tablespoon-serving.  It also contains 420 mg Omega-3 (ALA) per serving.

Overall, my experience of Naturally Nutty’s nut butter was definitely a pleasant one.  But come on, is there really such thing as a bad nut butter experience?  Actually, I take that back…my experience of Better’n Peanut Butter had me throwing away an almost full jar (oh no!).  However, Naturally Nutty’s nut butter goes a step beyond regular nut butters, incorporating the health beneficial ingredients of hemp and flax seeds to all their products, and doing so in a tasty way!

Sounds delicious! When I lived in Korea, peanut butter was hard to find. I did buy a few jars of organic peanut butter on the black market for 20 bucks each. Later, I found some very weird peanut butter combinations. I can’t remember what they were exactly. There was one with garlic, another one was really hot and spicy, and there was one with cranberries too. Some of them tasted great, but I’m glad to be back in America where I can be a little pickier about my peanut butter choices.

I want to try the Sun Seed Butter and Vanilla AB! I’ve only tried the regular PB and the Butter Toffee. I’m not a huge fan of the Butter Toffee either – it’s very sweet at first and then has a strange aftertaste. But I love the company and the nutritional stats!

I just found the Pepita Sun Seed Butter in my local Italian Market (of all places!) this week, and I have to say, I am ADDICTED to it! The flavor is such a special one…. it’s like having a dessert!!! I too, am a huge fan of nut butters, and I will definitely continue eating this brand. I am curious as to why the nutrition info is not on the product label, however, I can not resist this delicious treat! Five stars!!!
